About us
CityWide Properties was established in 2001 by Steven Verstandig, who obtained his real estate license at the age of eighteen. While attending Towson University in Towson, MD, he began purchasing properties in transitional areas. The first property was located in Hampden, a subdivision of Baltimore City. Steven purchased 25 total properties in this area from 2001 to 2005, while attaining his degree in Law and American Civilization. At this time, Steven began to expand his portfolio from buying single family homes in Baltimore City to purchasing mixed-use buildings and apartment complexes. His focus spread from Hampden to surrounding areas in Baltimore.
In 2005, Citywide Properties also expanded its rapidly growing business into managing and leasing shopping centers in Maryland. The first center the company managed was Club Centre in Pikesville, Maryland. When Steven Verstandig took on this challenge, the shopping center had sixteen vacancies. Within weeks, the young entrepreneur leased the vacant spaces and today, the once distressed center is now fully leased and is the most vibrant center in Pikesville. Steven Verstandig found his niche with leasing. Currently, Citywide Properties manages and leases centers in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida and Ohio.
